Saharawi Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike

Eleven Saharawi political prisoners in the terrible Inezegane prison have decided to go on a 48 hours warning hunger strike, starting from Thursday, June 01, 2006.

This decision was taken as a denouncement of the inhuman conditions they live in, to protest against the daily harassment they are subjected to, and to achieve their desire in being together in the same room.

Six of them were put with minors in separate blocks where there is a great number of prisoners to the extent that sometimes the six prisoners do not find where to sleep. They suffer from various skin diseases and the prison administration does not allow them to be hospitalised.

It is worth-mentioning here that these prisoners have been in Inzegane prison for two months without trial up to now.

The hunger strikers are:
- Najiaa Lbachir
- Lkhorchi Wissi
- Banga Cheikh
- Bourgaa Omar
- Labyad Hamdi
- Lmansouri Driss
- Tamek Mohamed
- Kjout Brahim
- Bakrimi Mustapha
- Lhmam Salama
- Lfkir Lhassan

Thanks for distributing this information to as much public as possible. We also urge you to ask the Moroccan authorities to cater for the hunger strikers' legitimate demands.
