At dawn of day 28 of May of 2006, the aggressor forces of Moroccan occupation, through their means of repression, set the former political prisoner Salek Saidi Yahdih Mulay El Mamun on fire. The burns was made by pouring liquid fuel on him during the interrogation he was subjected to, as he had supposedly been part of a peaceful demostration which was organised by a group of young saharawis close to a celebration hall called "Tires", in the suburb of Zemla. Sahara Arab Democratic Republic flags were waved in that demostration, and the people´s right to freedom and independance was vindicated.
According to information received from the Occupied Territories, Aziz, who
was the person in charge of the colonial Police, was accompanied by
two individuals of the Judiciary Police; Addarii and Azizi who poured the
inflammable liquid over the victim´s body, who had already suffered all sorts
of torture and humilliation in company of Maelaenin Essarghini and Hammu Bih during
his detention in the jails of the Police in the occupied city of El Aaiún.
We must take into account that the former political prisoner, Salek Saidi was born in 1986 and is handicapped. We was detained on the 25th of May 2005 and sentenced to prison for one year in the first trial, and for a two year jail term when he appealed in 3rd August 2005
Deeply concerned, the Association of Relatives of Saharawi Prisoners and the Disappeared and the Union of Saharauis Lawyers, has followed the serious events that happened in the Occupied Territories of the Saharaui Republic and makes the Moroccan Government completely responsible for the cowardly acts Salek Saidi was subjected to.
Both associations energetically condemn the abominable aggression through which Morocco adds another link to its continuous and systematic criminal chain against the children of the saharawi people since the kingdom invaded our immaculate soil in 1975.
AFAPREDESA and UJS beg all equality and justice lovers, associations, political parties, parliaments, news media, international personalities and all the international community to condemn and reject this abominable crime and to ask for international protection for our people, which suffers from the colonial occupation, and the terrorism of state practiced by the government of Morocco with the only purpose of striking the resistance of our people and trying to force us to give in to the occupation, deportation, arrogance, and terrorism of the Moroccan occupation.
The two saharawi associations demand the Secretary General of the United Nations to urgently create a UN sponsored mechanism in the Occupied Territories to monitor and protect the saharawi citizens from the countless and barbaric human rights violations carried out by the Moroccan colonial apparatuses.
As a consequence to this dangerous deterioration of the situation, both associations ask all our people’s children and all national actors to firmly support in solidarity and unite against Moroccan agressions and crimes, because this regime will not manage to diminish the resistante of our corageous saharawi people, which, today as always, persists in its resistance against the savage foreign occupation, as there is no other means other than perseverance, resistance and martyrdom in order to reach the freedom of our people and our homeland; the way to freedom and the way of the valiant martyrs are the paths of our intrenched and combatant people to free its soil and raise to its independent state in the form of the Saharawi Republic.
