AFAPREDESA / UJS: Joint report; the occupation authorities have tried to murder Lehman Salama, a sahrawi political prisoner.

The Association of the Families of Sahrawi Prisoners and the Disappeared (aka AFAPREDESA) and the Sahrawi´s Council of Lawyers (aka UJS), have been informed about the Moroccan colonial administration’s attempt to kill a sahrawi political prisoner in the prison of the Moroccan city of Inzagan..

The sahrawi political prisoner in question is LEHMAM SALAMA BRAHIM MAULUD, who was illegally detained and held in Inzegan prison. He received a cruel aggression from a Moroccan common delinquent and prisoner, who intended to put and end to the sahrawi´s life after he was incited to do so by a Moroccan prison guardian called Abdelatif.

This aggression took place yesterday evening. He had deep cuts in the ear and neck, a wound which received over fifteen stitches. The victim lost his consciousness and according to eye witnesses, he was bleeding from mouth and nose.

Both sahrawi associations wish to state a warning once again to the international community, human rights organisations, and specially to the Moroccan authorities of occupation about the alarming deterioration of the situation of the sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails, and emphasise in the Moroccan Regime’s obligation to respect the status of the prisoner of conscious.

Moreover, both associations wish to be clear (so that is doesn’t happen again) that the Moroccan authorities of occupation assume all responsibility of any danger which could affect the physical integrity of the sahrawi prisoners illegally held in jails.
